WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ– Freshman
Annick van Lange and senior
Kelly Hanna each scored, while sophomore goalkeeper
Gabi Millan recorded four saves as the Monmouth University field hockey defeated Hofstra, 2-0, Sunday afternoon on So Sweet A Cat Field.
After a scoreless first half, Monmouth (2-1) got on the board three and a half minutes into the second as Hanna drove towards cage which drew out Hofstra's goalkeeper, Betty Bosma. Â The forward sent a cross to van Lange who tipped in what proved to be the game-winner into the empty cage. Â The Hawks added an insurance marker with three minutes left in regulation. Â Freshman
Natalie McNamara sent a long feed into the circle that went off the keeper's pad. Â Hanna collected the ball and fired into the far cage to put the Hawks ahead by two.
Millan recorded her first career shutout in her fourth career start in cage.
