WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Junior Chandi Piiru and Senior Bryan Sosoo have received MAAC track performer of the week for the second time this season. Both are coming off winning performances at the Scarlet and White Invitational at Boston University.
 
Piiru continued her dominance in middle distance events by winning the 500 meters in 1:12.85 to claim the fastest time in the conference. This time was also fast enough to qualify for the ECAC Championships which is her second individual event that she has qualified for (800 meters).
 
Sosoo built on his strong season on both jumps and on the track by winning the 60-meter dash at the Scarlet and White Invitational and finishing second in the triple jump at the Crimson Elite meet. He ran the 60 meters in 6.78 seconds and placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 47'1.5". Sosoo has the best marks in both events in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference so far this season. He is also tied for fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region for the 60 meters with a season-best of 6.76 seconds.
 
Piiru, Sosoo and the rest of the Hawks will head to New York City on Friday for the Fastrack National Invitational and the NYU Invitational.
