WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- The Monmouth University track and field programs opened the 2018-19 indoor season with wins at home in the OceanFirst Bank Center Classic. The day was highlighted by two wins on the track from Tim Jacoutot and ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks in the men's and women's triple jump and women's shot put.

- "We had some great 'first-meet' results and very good energy from the team to open the season," said head coach Joe Compagni. "The distance runners are not in action yet but the sprinters, jumpers and throwers have put in a lot of work this fall and can now put their uniform on and got after it in competition. "We appreciate all the parents, families and alums who join us today to get the year off to a strong start."
- The women beat teams from Wagner, Montclair State and Delaware Valley. In Division I scoring, the men's team defeated Wagner by a margin of 299 to 125. The women's team won by outscoring Wagner 285 to 122.
- In 10 years of competition on the OceanFirst Bank Center track, the men's team has been undefeated. Over that same time span and more than 20 collegiate meets, the women's team has been victorious on all but one occasion.
- The Hawks claimed the top three spots in the shot put led by Allison Taub winning with an ECAC qualifying mark of 47'5.75". Chibuzo Amonu (43'5.75") and Jordan Wildermuth (42'7.5") finished second and third.
- Mariah Hubbard finished as the top collegian finisher in the triple jump as she posted an ECAC qualifying mark of 38'2.75".
- Junior Viviane Orleans won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.96 seconds. Fellow Hawks Dana Lynch (9.37 seconds) and Mariah Hubbard (9.41 seconds) finished second and third in the event.
- Sophomore Chibuzo Amonu (52'4.75") and senior Allison Taub (51'0.25") finished 2-3 in the weight throw.
- Emily Schroepfer placed third in the 60-meter dash by finishing in 8.27 seconds.
- Freshman Lauren Saifi won in her first collegiate event by clearing 10'6" to win the pole vault.
- The Hawks claimed the top three spots in the high jump as sophomore Samantha Fellows cleared 5 feet to win the event. Idalis Maldonado and freshman Jessica Wisowaty cleared 4'11" to round out the top three.
- Nioami Miranda won the 300-meter dash in 40.96 seconds while fellow juniors Viviane Orleans and Mackenzie Todd finished second and third in 42.33 and 43.11 seconds, respectively.
- The women's 4x400 relay team won with a time of 4:07.7 with a team of Todd, Wisowaty, Kelli Molnar and Miranda.
- Wisowaty would also finish second in the 500 meters with a time of 1:23.96.
- Patrice Baston finished as the top collegiate finisher in the long jump with a mark of 17'6".
- Senior Dana Lynch placed third in the 200-meter dash.
- - In the first event of the meet, sophomore Montel Johnson won the weight throw with a mark of 53'4". His teammates Gilligan and freshman Ryan Diener finished second and third in the event.
Daniel Gilligan finished as the top collegiate finisher in the shot put with a mark of 47'9".
- - Khalid Slocum won the 60-meter dash in 6.99 seconds.
- Tim Jacoutot won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.45 seconds while freshman Naeem Green was second in 8.60 seconds.
- The Hawks claimed a top three sweep in the triple jump with Darius Howe and freshman Nadale Buntin recording IC4A qualifying marks of 47'9.75" and 47'6.5". Michael Pepper placed third with a jump of 46'2.5".
- Freshman Rickie Casazza cleared 6'5.75" to win the high jump, his first ever event as a collegiate student-athlete.
- Freshman Randy Showmaker finished second in the pole vault by clearing 14'6".
- Slocum placed second in the long jump with a mark of 22'10.5".
- Senior Greg Stickle won the 500 meters in 1:05.72 while freshman Jalen Jones finished just behind Stickle in second by finishing in 1:06.94.
- Jacoutot won the 300-meter dash in 35.56 seconds which was just .06 seconds ahead of his teammate Khalid Slocum in second. Freshman Nadale Buntin finished third in 36.02 seconds to complete the top three sweep for the Hawks.
- The men's 4x400 team of Stickle, Buntin, Jones and Mohamed Diagourga finished 1st in a time of 3:24.30.
- Slocum and Pepper placed second and third in the long jump with marks of 22'10.5" and 22'2.25".
- After the meet, the Hawks honored their new school record holders, NCAA qualifiers and All-Americans from last year. Monmouth athletes set new school records in 18 events last year, 10 indoors and 8 outdoors. NCAA 1stRound qualifiers last year included Alicia Hester, Darius Howe, Danielle Steff and Tim Wilson. Recent alum Dylan Capwell earned his 5th and 6th All-America honors last year, while senior Allie Wilson earned 2nd Team All-America honors in the 800 in June.
