SCOUTING THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton dropped each of its first two games at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, falling to UCF and Wake Forest on Thursday and Friday. An NCAA team a season ago, the Titans by Khalil Ahmad and Kyle Allman Jr, both of whom average 19+ points per con- test.
HEAD COACH DEDRIQUE TAYLOR
Dedrique Taylor is in his sixth season at the helm of the Titans, and has been to postseason tournaments the last two seasons, including a Big West title and NCAA berth last year. He has 68 wins to his credit.
HAWKS AT NEUTRAL SITES
Monmouth is 0-2 on neutral floors after falling to West Virginia and Valpo at the HTC Center this week. MU went 1-2 in three neutral site games last season and overall under King Rice are 10-11 in games played at neutral sites.
HAWKS AGAINST THE BIG WEST CONFERENCE
Monmouth has only played once against a current Big West school, losing to UC Santa Barbara in the 1993 Gaucho Classic, 71-61 on December 4th. This is the second game in a row MU will see an opponent for the first time.
YOUNG FACES
Coming into the season, MU had just 14 combined seasons of experience in Monmouth uniforms coming back. Of those 14, just three were on the roster for both MAAC regular season titles, with just Diago Quinn playing both seasons.
TRAORE'S BIG NIGHT
Mustapha Traore posted a career-best performance in the game against Valparaiso, going a perfect 7-7 from the field to finish with a career-best 14 points. It marked the most makes for a Hawk in a single game without a miss since Je'lon Hornbeak went 7-7 in the 2016 MAAC Championship game.
TAKING ON NCAA TOURNAMENT TEAMS
The Blue and White will play five teams in non-conference play that qualified for the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Only seven teams nationally are slated for more than four including MAAC-rival Canisius (5) and several power-five programs, including North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, and Florida. MU has scheduled preseason ranked teams West Virginia and Kentucky, as well as league champions Bucknell and Penn. MU will a fifth NCAA team from last season today against the Titans.
