SERIES NOTES
-The teams have met just once, a 71-62 Monmouth win at the Cowboy Shootout in Caspar, WY.
-The only previous meeting took place in December 1994.
-This marks Monmouth's first trip to the Philadelphia area since a 2015 meeting at Drexel on 11/21.
-This is MU's first of two trips to Philadelphia this season, with the Blue and White traveling to Penn on New Year's Eve to take on the Quakers.
SALNAVE'S STRONG NIGHT
Ray Salnave put home a career high six field goals at Colgate, leading Monmouth with 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Salnave contributed three assists after a six-assist effort on opening night, while grabbing four rebounds.Â
HAMMOND SKYING HIGH
Deion Hammond has blocked a pair of shots on the season, both coming on opponents' breakaways that the guard chased down and pinned against the glass. In comparison, Hammond blocked six shots in total as a true freshman last season, including two in one game at Nassau Coliseum against Marist.
MCCLARY'S STRONG START
Sophomore guard Marcus McClary has started the first two games after opening three games on the floor for MU a season ago, and against Colgate, McClary posted a career-high in rebounds with five after grabbing four in four previous games. He also set career bests in assists in a game with three and blocked his first career shot while playing a career-best 30 minutes, with the previous high of 23 coming last season against Saint Peter's.
HAMMOND OPENS IT UP
Deion Hammond netted 20+ points for the first time in his career on opening night, hitting for 21 against Lehigh. He was 7-16 from the field and 4-11 from beyond the arc in leading Monmouth in scoring for the night. He has now gone into double figures 22 times in 33 career games, and has hit four triples in two consecutive games.Â
