FIELD HOCKEY CRUISES PAST LIU BROOKLYN

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Eight different Hawks scored, led by Georgia Garden Bachop's hat trick, as the Monmouth University field hockey team cruised to a 10-0 victory over LIU Brooklyn for its fifth straight victory.  

The Blue and White, which improved to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in league play, built a 6-0 first-half lead from goals by Garden Bachop, Gab Girardi, Aly Perez, Annick van Lange and Kelly Hanna.  Garden Bachop capped off her hat trick five minutes into the second half, while Natalie McNamara, Stefanie Bigler and Ireen Frenken each registered a goal in the second stanza.

Kate O'Hogan moved to 3-0 on the year with first career shutout, not being forced to make save.

- The Hawks have won 26-straight regular season games on their home turf dating back to the 2015 season.
- MU is 3-0 against the Blackbirds all-time.
- Monmouth's 10 goals matches a program best set against Siena in 2010 and matched against LIU Brooklyn in 2017.
- The Hawks' 25 points (10 goals, 5 assists) ranks third in program history, three points shy of matching the record.
- The 10 goals is the highest offensive production of the season.
- Georgia Garden Bachop registers her first career hat trick, the 22nd three-goal game in program history.  The senior has multi-goal games in four of the last five outings.  Her 25 career goals moves her into a tie with Alyssa Ercolino for sixth all-time.
- Kelly Hanna finished the afternoon with three points and runs her individual point streak to five games.
- Gab Girardi recorded her fourth career goal.
- Aly Perez and Stefanie Bigler each notched their first career goals.  Bigler added an assist on the Hawks' final goal to finish the day with three points.
- Annick van Lange and Natalie McNamara each registered their third goals of the year. 
- Ireen Frenken recorded her second marker of the season.
- Hannah Schiavo assisted on Garden Bachop's second of the game giving the sophomore her first career point.
- Elyssa Okken dished out her third assist of the year. 
- All 16 field players saw action this afternoon. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth outshot LIU Brooklyn, 29-3, including 20-9 in the opening half. 
- The Hawks earned eight corners, while the Blackbirds attempted two.
- Garden Bachop led the Hawks with eight shots, while Hanna had five attempts.  Frenken and van Lange each had four shots to their credit.

NEXT UP
Monmouth will continue MAAC play on Sunday, October 7th when it hosts Bryant beginning at 1 p.m.
