FAIRFIELD, CT – Georgia Garden Bachop scored in the 24th minute, while Annick van Lange registered a late insurance goal and Kate O'Hogan posted a shutout in cage to lead the Monmouth University field hockey team to a 2-0 win at Fairfield.
With the victory, the Hawks claim its fifth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship and will host the MAAC Championship as the number-one overall seed November 2-4 on So Sweet A Cat Field.
Garden Bachop connected on a shot off a corner from the top of the circle with 11 minutes to go in the first half to give the Hawks 1-0 lead it would eventually bring into the break. The Hawks and Stags played back-and-forth hockey in the second half, with Monmouth capitalizing on a pulled goalkeeper in the final two minutes as van Lange fired into the empty netting to seal the victory.
O'Hogan made two saves for her second shutout of the year.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth outshot the Stags 13-5, including 8-3 in the opening half.
- The Hawks earned eight attacking corners, all coming in the first half. The Stags had three attempts.
PLAYOFF PICTURE
Monmouth will be the number-one overall seed for the MAAC Tournament, November 2-4. With its win over Bryant, Rider clinched a berth in the tournament. Fairfield, Sacred Heart and LIU Brooklyn will determine the final two spots.
NEXT UP
Monmouth will travel to Lock Haven in the regular season finale on Friday, October 26th at 3 p.m. in its first meeting with the Bald Eagles since the 2009 Northeast Conference Championship game.
