WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – After sweeping Saint Peter's in the first conference match of the season, the Monmouth University men's tennis team swept their second straight MAAC opponent as it defeated Niagara on Sunday morning, 7-0. Five out of six Hawks defeated the Purple Eagles in straight sets during the singles portion, as Monmouth improved to 4-10 overall record on the season.
NOTES AND QUOTES
-Monmouth picked up two doubles wins, with Przemyslaw Filipek and Ale Gomez Estrada taking the 6-1 win at #1 doubles, and Christian Viera with Vikrant Dahiya earning the 6-2 win at #3.
-In the singles portion, Nicola Pipoli defeated the Purple Eagles 6-1, 6-0 at #1.
-At #2 singles, Filipek earned the 6-2 victory in the second set before outlasting Niagara 7-5 in the second set.
-Gomez Estrada, Viera, Dahiya, and Sergio Martinez closed out the last four slots, all earning convincing wins to give Monmouth the eventual 7-0 win.
