RICHMOND, VA – Before it continues conference play with three MAAC opponents, the Monmouth University men's tennis team were defeated by two Atlantic-10 schools this weekend. The Hawks dropped the first match to Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday, 5-2, before falling to Richmond on Sunday, 4-0. The defending MAAC Champions will take on Fairfield, Niagara, and Siena for its next three matches, starting this Friday against the Stags.
NOTES AND QUOTES
-Monmouth picked up two doubles wins against VCU, including the first duo of Przemyslaw Filipek and Ale Gomez Estrada. Christian Vieira and Vikrant Dahiya also won at #3 doubles.
-Gomez Estrada won the lone singles match for the Hawks at VCU, as completed the comeback win to defeat Vitor Lima, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3.
-At #2 doubles on Sunday, Nicola Pipoli and Sergio Martinez defeated Richmond's Quenard and Troy, 6-3.
