WASHINGTON, DC – The Monmouth University men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season this weekend, as they defeated Georgetown on Saturday, 4-3, before falling to George Washington on Sunday, 7-0.  The Hawks earned four straight singles wins from Nicola Pipoli, Przemyslaw Filipek, Ale Gomez Estrada, Christian Vieira, and also picked up a doubles win from Filipek and Gomez Estrada.

NOTES

-The Hawks won the first four singles matches in Saturday's win, led by Pipoli at No. 1 (6-2, 6-2) and Filipek (6-3, 6-4) at No. 2. Gomez Estrada earned the win at No. 3 followed by Viera's victory at No. 4.

-Filipek and Gomez Estrada won the first doubles match as well on Saturday, before Monmouth fell in the last two doubles matches.

-Monmouth was swept by George Washington on Sunday, but went to multiple third sets. Pipoli won the first set before falling in the next two. Filipek split two lengthy sets before falling in the third. Vikrant Dahiya was narrowly defeated at No. 5 against George Washington (6-4, 4-6, 6-4).
