NEWARK, NJ – The Monmouth University men's tennis team competed against three schools at the NJIT Invitational this weekend, highlighted by multiple wins on Saturday and Sunday. On day one, the Hawks earned doubles wins over Binghamton and NJIT and singles wins from Przemyslaw Filipek, Sam Bellersen, and Nicola Pipoli. Alberto Giuffrida earned two singles wins on Saturday. A day later, Monmouth won four more doubles matches and recorded singles wins from Pipoli, Filipek, Vikrant Dahiya, Ale Gomez Estrada, and Richard Chen.
NOTES
-On Saturday, Giuffrida earned wins against both Binghamton (6-4, 6-4) and Fairleigh Dickinson (6-4, 4-6, 10-8).
-Filipek earned the 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 over FDU on Saturday and a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 win over Binghamton on Sunday.
-Bellersen won a lengthy 6-4, 3-6, 14-12 match against NJIT on Saturday.
-Pipoli bested FDU on Saturday at No. 1 (6-4, 6-4).
-On Sunday, Estrada earned a victory over FDU at No. 3, Dahiya beat NJIT at No. 4, and Chen ended the day with a win at No. 6 over NJIT.

The Hawks will travel to Chicago, IL on February 3 to take on DePaul. The first match is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
