CONWAY, SC – Ale Gomez Estrada (Guayaquil, Ecuador/PERT) won his No. 3 singles match, but the Monmouth University men's tennis team fell to Coastal Carolina, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 3-6 on the year, while the Chanticleers improve to 11-2.

Christian Vieira (Houston, TX/Memorial) and Alberto Giuffrida (Catania, Italy/Lincoln) led, 6-5, at No. 3 doubles, but their match was suspended when the Chanticleers took a pair of close matches at Nos. 1 and 2 to take the doubles point.

Gomez Estrada then defeated Pedro Leme in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, at No. 3 singles. But CCU took the remaining five singles sets and the 6-1 match victory. Przemyslaw Filipek (Bedzin, Poland/Second Lo [Silesia]) was the next closest Hawk to a victory, falling to Jabor Al-Mutawa, 6-3, 6-4, at the top singles flight.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, when they face South Carolina State. First serve from Orangeburg, SC, is scheduled for 1 p.m.
