PRINCETON, NJ – The Monmouth University men's tennis team competed at the Farnsworth Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, this weekend. Sophomore
Alberto Giuffrida (Catania, Italy/Lincoln) headlined the group, advancing to the Lenz Flight semifinals with a pair of hard-fought singles victories.
Giuffrida defeated Fairleigh Dickinson's Salomon Koster, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, in the first round, before earning a 6-4, 6-4, win over Georgetown's Jordan Portner in the quarterfinals. His run was stopped in three sets by Princeton's Ben Tso, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, in the semifinals.
Ale Gomez Estrada (Guayaquil, Ecuador/PERT) also picked up a main draw singles victory, defeating Lehigh's George Cooper, 6-0, 7-6, in the first round of the Cordish Flight.

Christian Vieira (Houston, TX/Memorial) led the Hawks in doubles play, reaching the B Flight semifinals. The duo defeated Marist's Dylan Fletcher and Lars Schouten, 8-4, in the quarterfinals before falling to Drexel's Sinan Orhon and Kashyap Ashok, 8-7, in the semifinals.
The Hawks wrap up the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 20-25, when they take part in the ITA Northeast Regionals in Philadelphia.
