WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth senior RHP T.J. Hunt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) added another award after firing a no-hitter last Saturday, as he was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week. He earns conference pitcher of the week honors for the second time this season, and picks up his second honor of the week after being named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by the Collegiate Baseball News yesterday.
Hunt used 90 pitches to toss the first no-hitter for Monmouth in eight years on Saturday, the first since major leaguer Brad Brach notched one in 2007. He fanned five and walked only two, picking off a runner and facing just 23 batters.
He has now completed three straight starts, and five this season to move into eighth nationally in complete games and 33rd among active pitchers in career CG's.
Monmouth returns to action Thursday, beginning an important conference series with Rider to close out the regular season.
