TAYLOR NASON SIGNS NLI WITH MU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Throughout this week, we'll introduce you to the newest additions to the Monmouth University Women's Basketball family. The Hawks recently signed six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2016-17 season.

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Women's Basketball Head Coach Jenny Palmateer has announced the signing of Taylor Nason (Lorton, VA/South County) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Hawks for the 2016-17 season. Nason is a 5-foot-10 forward for Coach Patrick Noel at South County High School in Lorton, VA. She ranked third in the state of Virginia with 13.4 rebounds per game as a junior and compiled 19 double-doubles. She grabbed double-digit rebounds in 22 of her 25 games last year, including three with 20 or more.

"Taylor is really kind of an undersized post," said Palmateer. "For us, she'll kind of fill that 3-4 spot. Her biggest strength is absolutely her strength. She uses it to her advantage in everything that she does – getting to the rim explosively, rebounding. And really, what we're looking most forward to with Taylor is the fact that she's going to be able to help generate extra possessions by her aggressiveness. She's just an unbelievable rebounder and I feel like, with everything else that we have, she's going to be the missing piece on the boards for us in the future."

Nason led the Stallions to a second-place finish in the district as a junior. She was named Second Team All-Region and Third Team Northern Virginia Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Northern Virginia last season, to go along with Patriot District First Team and All-District Tournament Team honors. As a sophomore, she earned Second-Team All-Patriot District, as well being named to the All-Patriot District Defensive Team after taking Patriot District Honorable Mention as a freshman.
