WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University men's cross country team moved up one spot in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional polls, officials announced on Monday afternoon. MU moved into 13
th in the Mid-Atlantic region to rank in the top-15 for the third consecutive week, after placing 14
th the previous two weeks.
The Hawks move into 13th after a third place team finish at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University. Junior Khari Bowen (Monroe, N.J./Monroe Township) won the “Brown Race” with a time of 25:04 on the 8k course to best nearly 400 competitors. Alex Leight (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) recorded a 17th place finish with a time of 25:50. Two other Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schools ranked, with Rider also moving up a spot and remaining one spot behind MU at 14th in the Mid-Atlantic. Iona holds the 4th place spot in the Northeast region. The Mid-Atlantic region consists of schools located in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
The men's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, October 19 for the Princeton Invitational at the West Windsor Fields in Bethlehem, Pa. The men's race will begin at 10:30 a.m.
