WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University men's soccer team has moved
up one spot to No. 26 in the College Soccer News Top 30 National Poll, the
website today announced. The Hawks also held the No. 44 position in the
TopDrawerSoccer.com Tournament 48 and continue to receive votes in the
NSCAA/Continental Tire National Rankings. The NSCAA has also ranked Monmouth as
the top team in the North Atlantic Region.
The Hawks are coming off a pair of wins at Towson and against Providence in the
opening days of the 2012 season. Francois "Paco" Navarro (Paris, France/William
Carey) leads the Hawks with two goals and two assists, while Jacob Rubinstein (Ocean
Township, N.J./Ocean) has a goal and two assists. Joseph Schmid (Kingston,
Pa./Wyoming Valley West) has added a goal, while Edney Derrick (Kumasi,
Ghana/KNUST University) and Ryan Clark (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) have
added two assists and a goal, respectively.
Monmouth returns to action
Friday, when it travels to Lawrenceville, N.J., to face intrastate rival Rider.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Ben Cohen Field.
