PRINCETON, N.J. - The Monmouth University track and field teams concluded competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships hosted by Princeton University, Sunday afternoon. The women's squad, which had four All-East performers, finished the second best in school history, while the men's team, which placed two athletes on the All-East squad.
The women's team finished with 14 points in 24th place which is its second-best result at the ECAC's in school history.
Rachel Watkins joins teammates Jennifer Nelson, Mary Wilks and Lindsey Walsh with All-East honors as she claimed a share of fifth place in the high jump with a mark of 5' 6.5". Allison Day and Walsh both cleared 5' 4.5" in the event.
Watkins also ran 1:01.90 in the 400 hurdles to finish 12th overall.
Rookie Rachel Aliotta was the first MU finisher in the shot put registering a mark of 43' .25" followed by Sandra Jean-Romain who landed a throw of 42' 1.25".
The men's team, who earned their third straight NEC team title last week, finished in 33rd out of the 100 team field.
Thrower Vincent DuVernois joined Jason Kelsey as an All-East performer as the sophomore threw for 206' 7" to earn sixth in the javelin.
Rookie Tommy Butler cleared 6' 7.5" to finish tied for 10th in the high jump.
Senior Tom Ciccoli, who also earned a tenth place finished, threw for 52' 8.25" in the shot put.
Monmouth's top athletes will now compete at the NCAA First Round at the Indiana University on May 26-28. The final field of qualifiers will be announced on Thursday, May 19th.
