TRACK AND FIELD WRAPS UP WEEEKEND AT TERRIER CLASSIC

BOSTON, MASS. -  On the second day of competition, the Monmouth University men's team recorded two IC4A qualifiers while the women's team added an ECAC qualifying mark at Boston University's Terrier Invitational Saturday afternoon.  Freshman Bayaan Oluyadi (Union, N.J./Union) paced the men's squad, which was ranked fifth in the first installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, with his IC4A qualifying mark in the 500 meter dash.  The distance medley team recorded a top-three finish for the women's team, which was tabbed 12th in the Mid-Atlantic.

Oluyadi crossed the finish line in 1:04.56 to claim fourth place, which qualifies the rookie for the IC4A Championships in the 500 meter dash.  Senior Eric Fay (Yatesville, Pa./Pittston Area) recorded a time of 1:05.73 to take seventh while freshman Joe DiBianca (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) finished 13th in 1:06.24.

DiBianca and Oluyadi were also part of the 4x400 team, along with freshman Jon Marques (Linden, N.J. /St. Joseph) and senior Jason Kelsey (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco Prep), who placed 5th finishing in 3:18.22, which qualifies for the IC4A Championships.

Jalen Walker (Burlington, N.J./BCIT/Burlington Township) crossed the finish line in 8.53 in the 60 meter hurdles and finished the 200 meter dash in 23.45.

Jason Kelsey (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) took 15th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.25.  The senior also claimed fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 22' 3".

Sophomore Pat Egan (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson Regionals) took 30th in the 800 meter dash, recording a time of 1:57.44 followed by rookie Patrick Ryan (Leonia, N.J./Leonia)  who finish in 1:59.72. 

Junior Mike Bertocchi (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) and sophomore David Berger (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) were the first two Hawks to cross the finish line in the mile, finishing in 4:22.84 and 4:27.01, respectively.  Mulligan completed the race in 4:33.77 while sophomore Chris DelFattore (Colonia, N.J. /John F Kennedy Memorial) posted a time of 4:39.94.

Freshman Dylan Hankinson (Millstone Township, N.J./Notre Dame) was the first Hawk to finish the 3000 meter run, recording a time of 8.55.11, good for 54th overall while sophomore Jeffrey Ascough (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East)  finished in 9:04.18.

Senior Ben Hutterer (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) lead the way for the Hawks in the 5000 meter run, finishing 32nd overall in 14:57.84.  In a later heat, sophomore Sean Hartnett (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), Junior Dan Collura (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and freshman Seth Robbins (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), went one-two-three with times of.14:21.47, 15:22.21, 15:22.63, respectively.

Garth DeBlasio (Millstone, N.J./Allentown) finished 10th in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:30.92.

Reigning Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week Vincent Elardo (Forked River, N.J./Lacey) extended his shot put winning streak to seven meets as the senior threw for 57' 2.75" to claim the top spot.  Thomas Ciccoli (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll)  finished sixth as the senior posted a mark of 52' while sophomore Shane Carle (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) took 11th with a throw 50' .75". 

Elardo had his weight throw streak snapped at six as he finished fourth overall with a toss of 58' 6" followed by Ciccoli in 11th with a mark of 50' 4".  Ryan Snyder (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) threw for 47' 9.25" for 17th place.

Junior Brandon Cabral (Farmingdale, N.J./Colts Neck) cleared 14' 11" to take second in the pole vault.

Rookie Tommy Butler (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) jumped 6' 6" to claim a share of second place in the high jump followed by senior Julio Rodriguez  (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) who shared sixth place with a clearance of 6' 4".

The women's distance medley team of sophomore Amanda Eller (Delmont, N.J./Millville), sophomore Rachel Watkins (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills)  , sophomore Emily MacEwen (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury)  and graduate Christina Nelson (Little Silver, N.J. (Red Bank [Maryland])  qualified for the ECAC Championships with their second place finish, posting a time of 11:53.77, which places them second all-time in school history.

Competing at the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, sophomore Rich Bills (Matawan, N.J./St. Joseph) complied 4309 in the heptathlon to take third.  Classmate Nick Waltman (Colonia, N.J./JFK Memorial) took third in the high jump, clearing 44' 10.25".  Stevenson Cajuste (Somers, N.Y./Somers) jumped 21' .75" in the high jump for a share of fourth place. Ed Kramer (Marlton, N.J. /Cherokee) registered a second place finish in the high jump with a mark of 6' 4.25" followed by sophomore Jake Bartlett (Middletown, N.J./CBA) who cleared 6' 2.25".  Junior Todd Apgar (Somers, N.Y. /Somers) crossed the finish line in the mile run in 4:25.59, good for fifth place.

Alison Day (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin)  recorded a mark of 5' 5" in the high jump to share first place for the women's squad while junior Monica Klock took seventh in the shot put with her throw of 36'9.5".  Sophomore Melissa Reigles (Bainbridge, N.Y./Bainbridge-Guilford) hurled 43' 7.25" in the weight throw to place seventh overall.

MU returns to action next week as it hosts the MU Blue-White Invitational on Saturday, February 5th,  starting at 10 a.m.
