WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University senior thrower Marion Easley (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) earned Road Runner Sports NEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors this week for his standout performances this past weekend, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Easley becomes the third different Monmouth thrower this season to win the Road Runner Sports NEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week award. The javelin thrower took third place at the 45th annual Colonial Relays, which were hosted by William & Mary, and claimed the Northeast Conference lead in the process. Tossing the javelin 65.58m (215' 2"), Easley easily surpassed the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships.
The Blue and White have now won three straight Field Athlete of the Week honors. Easley, who was also a standout running back for the MU football team throughout his career, earned his second career award in track and field.
Easley and the Blue and White will return to the track this upcoming weekend when MU travels to three separate meets. A handful of Hawks will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee for the Tennessee Sea Ray Relays while other members will stay in the Garden State - Ewing, N.J. - for the New Jersey Invitational. Other members will be traveling to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Bison Outdoor Classic. All meets are slated for TBA and will be taking place on Friday and Saturday, April 9th-10th.
