WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth's Geoff Navarro (Mays Landing, N.J./Absegami) has been named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.

Navarro added his name to Monmouth's list of IC4A qualifiers by posting the top 200-meter time of any NEC freshmen this season.  The rookie sprinter logged a time of 22.14 at the BU Terrier Classic to move into  third overall on the league's performance list.  Navarro's award-winning performance came one week after the rookie sprinter finished one-hundredth (.01) of a second off the 60-meter qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships.

Navarro has been a solid addition to the Hawks sprinting unit all season long.  The Hawks are back in action this weekend at the Penn State Nationals on Friday and Saturday, while competing at Delaware on Saturday.
