NUTTER, FEIRSTEIN EARN WEEKLY NEC LACROSSE AWARDS

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth University senior Megan Nutter (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and freshman Rachel Feirstein (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown East) have both earned Northeast Conference weekly lacrosse accolades, conference officials announced on Monday afternoon.

Nutter was named NEC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight time after her eight-goal performance last week.  The midfielder tallied a pair of goals in Monmouth's first loss of the season against LeMoyne before unleashing a season-high six scores against Binghamton.  Nutter scored five of Monmouth's nine first half goals in a 16-7 victory over the Bearcats on Sunday afternoon.  The Moorestown, N.J., native currently leads the Northeast Conference with 4.25 goals per game and 4.75 points per contest.

Feirstein earns her first NEC Rookie of the Week honor after tallying two multi-goal outings last week.  The midfielder was one of the lone bright spots in Monmouth's loss to LeMoyne, scoring three goals off the bench.  Against Binghamton, her first career start, Feirstein scored four goals on four shots.  She currently ranks eighth in the conference with 2.0 goals per game.

“Megan and Rachel have worked extremely hard and their play is very deserving of this recognition,” said MU Head Coach Kelly Van Zile.

Monmouth, 3-1 on the season, will travel to the West Coast to face St. Mary's on Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
