MEN'S TRACK WINS THREE EVENTS AT NYU GOTHAM CUP

NEW YORK- Monmouth University's track and field teams had a successful outing at the NYU Gotham Cup on Friday, held at the New York City Armory.

Freshman Tom Ciccoli's (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) throw of 50' 8” took first in the shot put, while junior Larry Lundy (Friendsville, Pa./Montrose Area) came in eighth in the event (46' 8 ?”).  Senior Ed Skowronski (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) won the weight throw with his toss of 61' ?”, while Lundy placed sixth and Shawn Sabo (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) placed eighth. 

Junior Ryan Madrid (Clifton, N.J./Paramus Catholic) paced the Hawks on the track, taking home first place in the 800m with his time of 1:55.15.  Reginald McLeod (Jersey City, N.J./Dr. Ronald E. McNair) earned a fourth place finish in the 400m with his time of 48.86, which is an IC4A qualifying mark.  Distance specialist Randy Hadzor (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) collected a fourth place finish for the Hawks in the 3000m, coming in at the 8:48.09 mark.  Freshman Ben Hutterer (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) finished sixth in the 5000m, crossing the line in 15:55.64.  Peter Forgach (Long Branch, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was the eighth fastest collegian in the mile run.   Chris Vuono's (Wall, N.J./CBA) time of 1:04.23 was good enough for fifth place in the 500m.

Forgach, Eric Fay (Yatesville, Pa./Pittston Area), Madrid and Yasser Barr (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) made up MU's sixth place distance medley relay team, crossing the line in 10:33.97.  Monmouth's all-freshman relay team of Colton Langianese (Lewis Run, Pa./Bradford Area), Hutterer, Michael Slater (Belford, N.J./CBA) and Patrick McCarney (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson) were seventh in the 4x800 with their time of 8:05.08, setting the new school freshmen mark in the process. 

McLeod, Jason Kelsey (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco), Vuono and Kevin Gilroy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) combined for an eighth place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:19.79).

The Hawks are back in action next weekend when they compete in the Great Dane Classic on Friday night and the Princeton Relays on Saturday.
