WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University men's basketball team, now 1-5 at home this season, hosts Quinnipiac and its second-rated league offense on Saturday night, in Boylan Gym. The Hawks (4-12, 1-3 NEC), who are coming off a loss to league-leading Wagner on Thursday night, are registering a league-low 55.4 points per game.
Annually prided in its defense, Monmouth currently ranks second in the NEC in scoring defense, allowing 65.8 points per contest, a mere 0.2 points per game behind CCSU.
Quinnipiac is coming off a 70-59 win over Mount St. Mary's, at home, on Thursday night, and now stand at 3-1 in the league.
Prior to the game, Monmouth will host its annual Alumni Game, and at halftime of the contest with the Bobcats, the men's basketball program will make a special presentation honoring 25 individuals in its Division I history who have made commitments towards the new MAC building.
In recognition for contributions and commitments to the Video Area of the MBB Locker Room: Keith Olenik (1996-2000), Will Consovoy (1992-1996), Chad Wagenheim (1994-1998) and Brian Higgins (1988-1992). Former manager Rodney Herbert, who passed away in 2007, will also be added to the plaque in honor of his commitment to the program.
