WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth University men's tennis team went 3-1 this past weekend at the Lehigh Tournament in Bethlehem, Pa. The Hawks' defeated Hamilton, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Mount St. Mary's at the event, while falling to hosting Lehigh.
Monmouth was paced by a host of players, but
Vik Gupta's (Princeton, N.J./Princeton Day) perfect 4-0 record at #6 Singles stood out. Gupta won all four matches in straight sets and only went to one tie-break.
Four Hawks' went 3-1 during the weekend, led by
Ben Evenden (Cresco, Pa./Ridgewood (N.J.)) at #1 Singles. Evenden won his first two matches in straight sets before defeating Mount's Favio Osorio in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Tom Corrie (Herfordshire, England/Roundwood Park) won all of his matches in straight sets and
Pedro Bruno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Santa Marcelina) was one of two Hawks' to defeat his Lehigh opponent, defeating Drew Balshi 8-2.
Corey Forrest (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic) was the fourth Hawk to post a 3-1 weekend mark.
The men's tennis fall season is now wrapped up. The Hawks' return to competition for the spring season.
