MONMOUTH?S MICHAEL McCLELLAND NAMED TO NACDA ACADEMIC ALL-STAR TEAM

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth University senior football player Michael McClelland (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) has been named to the Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team, the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association announced recently.

“Mike is an extremely hard worker in everything that he does,” said Monmouth head coach Kevin Callahan.  “His achievements, both academically and in football, are well deserved and are a true indication of the student-athlete that he is. We are all very proud of him.”

The senior wide receiver owns a 3.77 grade point average and is graduating in May with a degree in accounting.  McClelland is a three-time CoSIDA ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District award winner.  On the field, McClelland was one of the Hawks best all-around receivers, catching 18 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns while starting in all 12 games for the Blue and White.

McClelland was one of 54 selected student-athletes, out of 94 nominees from all Football Championship Subdivision schools (formally I-AA).

A student-athlete must have a minimum 3.20 grade point averaged in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials.  Now in its 14th year, the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association's mission is to enhance Football Championship Subdivision football. The Association is administered by NACDA, now in its 42nd year. NACDA is the professional and educational association for more than 6,100 college athletics administrators at more than 1,600 institutions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. More than 2,000 athletics administrators annually attend the NACDA Convention.
