RICHMOND, Va. – Rodney Nelson has been named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season following No. 9/10 Monmouth's 35-7 victory at Bryant on Saturday.
 
Nelson once again set a career high with 244 rushing yards on 34 attempts, while adding two touchdowns on the ground and 62 yards receiving. Nelson's 306 all-purpose yards are the second most by any FCS player in a single game this season and ranks tied for second in Monmouth program history behind Dymere Miller's 333 yards vs. New Hampshire in 2023.
 
The Maryland native has eclipsed 200 rushing yards in consecutive games, the first time he has accomplished the feat in his career, and three times overall this season. He has finished above the 100-yard mark in eight out of nine games this season. With his performance against the Bulldogs on Saturday, Nelson has run for over 100 yards in six straight games – a new program record. His 15 rushing touchdowns now rank fourth in a single campaign in Monmouth's 33-season history.
 
The redshirt sophomore currently leads FCS in rushing (1,482 yards) and all-purpose yards per game (188.22) despite not returning any kicks or punts. Nelson and the Hawks (8-1, 5-0 CAA) return to Kessler Stadium to take on New Hampshire on Saturday, Nov. 8 at noon. The game will be broadcast live on FloCollege and The Wax.
