Schopman begins her first season as the assistant coach for Monmouth Field Hockey. She brings with her one of the most prestigious pedigrees in the sport.
Schopman played nine years for the Netherlands National Team making 212 caps, while being named captain from 2009-2010 seasons. Her coaching career began in 2003 as the Den Bosch U18 women’s team coach in the Netherlands before becoming the U21 Netherlands Women’s National Team assistant coach in 2013. In 2014, Schopman took over as the USA Women’s National Team coach of USA Field Hockey from 2014-2019 before serving four seasons as the head coach of the India Women’s National Team from 2020-2024.
Schopman was named as the 2022 FIH Coach of the Year and the 2017 USOPC Coach of the Year. While with Team USA, she led the group to first place at the 2017 World League 3 and first place at the 2015 PanAm Games. While at the helm of Team India, Schopman led her squad to championship performances at the 2022 FIH Nations Cup and 2023 Asian Champions Trophy. Additionally, she led Team India to third place at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and fourth place at the 2021 Olympic Games.
Schopman graduated from University of Technology Delft in Delft, Netherlands in 2022 and earned her Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
