RICHMOND, VA – After leading the Monmouth University men's soccer team to a 1-1 tie with No. 15 Hofstra University, the Hawks had a pair of players honored as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) announced its weekly honors.

Sophomore goalkeeper Herman Johnsen was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week while freshman midfielder Brady Orendac was selected as the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week.

It's the first weekly honors for the Hawks this season. 

Johnsen made three big stops to help the Hawks secure the tie with the Pride. He made two saves in the first half and saved the only shot on goal that the Pride had in the second half of that contest. Johnsen also came off his line to intercept a ball and break up the play.

Johnsen now has at least three saves in four of five contests this season. He ranks third in the CAA for saves per game while averaging 4.60. Johnsen enters play this week with a 2.68 goals against average and a .639 save percentage.

Orendac scored his first collegiate goal in the 18th minute on Saturday night and pulled the Hawks into a 1-1 tie with the Pride. His goal came as a result of a free kick for the Hawks. Orendac, who played all 90 minutes in the contest, made several key slide tackles to break up a play and give the Hawks the ball back.

Orendac has a goal and an assist this season.

Johnsen, Orendac and the Hawks return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they travel to Northeastern for a 6 p.m. contest.
