Long Branch, NJ — The Monmouth Football program hosted "The Block" summer kickoff event fundraiser Sunday at local premier steakhouse Butcher Block for a successful afternoon among alumni, friends, local companies, board members and local community alike.
There were more than 125 attendees at Long Branch's own The Butcher's Block Restaurant, which played host to the Hawks football program who welcomed local community members, alumni, fellow local companies and members of the athletics department for an afternoon of food, music and meet and greet with the entire coaching staff including first-year head coach
Jeff Gallo.
"Thank you to Butcher's Block for hosting the Monmouth Football program," Gallo said. "It was a great day for our football family and a great event at one of the premier steakhouses in Monmouth County."
Gallo, who was an all-conference player himself during his time as a Hawk, spent the last 21 seasons on the sidelines for Monmouth, including six as the offensive coordinator and two as the associate head coach before taking over the helm of the program entering this fall from legendary and inaugural head coach
Kevin Callahan, who retired after 33 seasons.
Gallo took pride in the community engagement event, as he and his staff welcomed an array of guests who matriculated throughout the afternoon at one of the city's most exclusive, high-end restaurants.
"These community events help elevate our football program and connect our program, fan base and alumni throughout Monmouth County and the state of New Jersey," added Gallo. "It's a great kick off to the summer. We're just getting started. One team, one community, one goal."
