Head Coach Jeff Gallo Announces Staff Updates for 2026 Football Season

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Football Head Coach Jeff Gallo announced a series of coaching staff promotions and title updates for the 2026 season. The changes include three key promotions at Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and General Manager – a role new to the program – along with several expanded leadership roles across the staff.

"I am excited to announce the retention and promotion of an exceptional coaching staff," said Gallo. "In today's constantly changing landscape of college football, it was paramount for us to retain and elevate high-level coaches who provide our student-athletes with consistency, clarity, and direction as we move into 2026. This staff is made up of outstanding people – leaders, teachers, mentors and coaches – who will work tirelessly to continue to elevate our football program. The work is just getting started."

Promotions
- Jimmy Robertson has been promoted to Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach after previously serving as the program's quarterbacks' coach. A former head coach at FDU, Robertson will enter his fifth season with Monmouth. He has spearheaded the Monmouth passing game which has ranked No. 1 in FCS in each of the past two seasons and has improved in the national rankings each year since he arrived.
- Louis DiRienzo Jr. has been elevated to Defensive Coordinator / Linebackers Coach after one season serving as the head of the linebackers and defensive run game coordination. DiRienzo brought in high emphases on sound tackling and taking the ball away, and Monmouth's defense finished the 2025 season with 17 turnovers forced, a mark that ranked second in the Costal Athletic Association (CAA). Monmouth's 12 fumble recoveries ranked fourth in FCS in 2025 and was the most by the Hawks unit since 2019.
- Kevin Callahan Jr. will remain as the program's Wide Receivers Coach but will also serve in a new role as General Manager that will oversee NIL, roster management, recruiting strategy, and personnel operations. In the past, Callahan Jr. has recruited and developed some of the top wide receiving talent in FCS, including Dymere Miller and Josh Derry, who were national leaders in receiving yards and touchdowns in their respective breakout seasons.

Other Staff Updates
- Brian Gabriel adds the title of Assistant Head Coach while continuing his duties as Offensive Run Game Coordinator / Offensive Line Coach.
- Sam Dorsett also adds an Assistant Head Coach title to his Running Backs Coach designation.
- Dennis Long will serve as the new Tight Ends Coach, a position group previously led by Gallo. Long will also continue in his role as Special Teams Coordinator.
- Kamau Dumas takes over the role as Recruiting Coordinator and will continue to serve as the Cornerbacks Coach.
- Codey Cole has been given responsibilities as the Defensive Run Game Coordinator and retains his role as Defensive Line Coach.
