WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – A group of Monmouth Football student-athletes recently participated in the annual Saxum Real Estate Boot Camp, gaining firsthand exposure to the commercial real estate and private equity industries through a unique educational experience made possible by Monmouth Football alumnus Billy Worfolk.
The program included an educational session led by members of the Saxum team, followed by a tour of one of New Jersey's premier development projects in nearby Red Bank. Participants had the opportunity to visit the active construction site, learn about the planning and execution of a large-scale real estate development and hear directly from professionals working across multiple facets of the industry.
The experience provided student-athletes with valuable insight into potential career paths while reinforcing Monmouth Football's commitment to preparing players for success beyond the field.
"We're extremely thankful to Monmouth Football alumnus Billy Worfolk and the entire Saxum team for providing this opportunity for our student-athletes," said Monmouth Head Coach Jeff Gallo. "Through the strength of our Monmouth Football alumni network and local community connections, our players were able to get firsthand access to one of the premier real estate projects in New Jersey and learn directly from professionals in the industry. Experiences like this expose our team to high-level, real-world opportunities that can help set them apart long after their playing careers are over. Our goal is to prepare them for success in every aspect of life, and opportunities like this are invaluable in helping them gain perspective, make connections and prepare for what comes next after Monmouth."
Among those in attendance was incoming transfer kicker Sky Sholder, who described the experience as both educational and inspiring.
"My experience with the Saxum Real Estate/Private Equity Group Boot Camp was nothing short of phenomenal," Sholder said. "Mr. Rinaldi, Mr. DeBolt and their staff were incredibly knowledgeable and informative throughout the Zoom call and the Red Bank construction site tour. Hearing how it all comes together on the backend, and then seeing how the building actually comes to fruition through the build, was an eye-opening experience. As someone passionate about commercial real estate and private equity, I'm extremely grateful to have been invited to be a part of this opportunity."
The annual boot camp is one of several professional development opportunities available to Monmouth Football student-athletes through the program's extensive alumni network. By connecting current players with accomplished professionals and industry leaders, Monmouth Football continues to provide meaningful experiences that support personal growth, career exploration and long-term success after graduation.
