WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – An eight run first inning powered Northeastern University to a 10-1 win over the Monmouth University baseball team in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Saturday.Â

The Huskies got off to a quick start as they sent 12 men to the plate and scored eight times. Henry DiGiorgio had a two-run single in the inning to highlight the action.Â

The Hawks loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the first but were unable to push one across.

Northeastern took advantage of a Monmouth error to score another run in the fourth and led 9-0.Â

The Hawks got one run back in the seventh as
Robert Kelly led off with a home run to left.
Â
Northeastern added one more run in the ninth and claimed the 10-1 victory.

- Robert Kelly homered for the second time this season for the Hawks.Â
- Wyatt Hunt was hit by a pitch for the sixth time this season. It was the 79th time this season the Hawks have been hit by a pitch.
- RJ Mustaro had two hits for his ninth multi-hit game of the season.
- Austin Beard matched his season-high with four strikeouts in relief. Both of Beard's four strikeout games have come against Northeastern.
- Alec Couture suffered the loss for the Hawks after giving up eight runs, two of which were earned in the first inning.
