WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University baseball scored at least one run in each of the third through seventh innings and secured a 14-4 win over North Carolina A&T in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Thursday.

The Aggies got the scoring started with three runs in the top of the second.Â

The Hawks had the answer in the bottom of the third.
Chris Walsh doubled home
Colin Richter to start the scoring. Two batters later,
Brendan Buecker lifted a double over the head of the rightfielder and tied the game at 3-3.Â

Monmouth took the lead in the fourth as Walsh had a two-run double.
Wyatt Hunt followed with an RBI groundout and the home team led 6-3.Â

NC A&T got one back in the fifth as the Aggies took advantage of a couple Monmouth errors to score one.

Back-to-back RBI doubles from
Jimmy Bruno and
Aidan Bretschneider pushed the Monmouth lead to 8-4 in the fifth.Â

The Hawks added a single run in the sixth and pushed their lead to 9-4.

Monmouth sent eight men to the plate in the seventh and scored five runs to close out the 14-4 win. Richter and Hunt each contributed two run singles in the frame.

Notes
- The Hawks stole five bases on the day and broke the school record with their 103rd steal of the season. Wyatt Hunt's steal in the sixth broke last year's mark.Â
- The Hawks move to 9-1 on the year when they record five or more steals in a game.
- Monmouth knocked out eighth doubles in the game, including two for Chris Walsh. It's the most by a CAA team in a single-game this season.Â
- Colin Richter went 3-for-4Â Â with three runs scored and two RBIs. Richter is now 7-for-8 in the last two games combined.Â
- Richter's three runs scored were a season-best. The Hawks move to 8-2 on the year when Richter scores multiple runs.
- Nick Lovarco has reached base safely in 12 straight games.Â
- Wyatt Hunt and Chris Walsh combined for six RBIs in the contest.Â
- Ryan Mealy picked up his fifth win of the season as he went 5.2 innings and surrendered four runs while striking out five.
- Kevin Opanel went the final 1.1 and did not allow a hit while striking out three.Â
