WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – After a ninth inning that saw the two teams combine for six runs, it was North Carolina A&T emerging with a 10-9 win over the Monmouth University baseball team in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play Friday.

The Aggies got the scoring started with a two-out run in the top of the first.

Monmouth answered in their half of the frame as
Wyatt Hunt had an RBI groundout.
Simmi Whitehill made it a 2-1 game as he scored on a wild pitch.Â

North Carolina A&T used another two-out run in the top of the second to tie things at 2-2.

The Aggies got a three-run home run from Luis Gomez in the third and took a 5-2 lead.

The Hawks got a run back in their half of the inning as Hunt drove in
Chris Walsh with a single.Â

The Aggies pushed the lead to 6-3 in the top of the fourth.Â

Monmouth got a run back in the bottom of the fourth as
RJ Mustaro roped a double that scored
Aidan Bretschneider.

The Hawks sent seven men to the plate and scored three times in the bottom of the sixth for a 7-6 edge. Bretschneider had an RBI single before Mustaro launched a two-run home run to left field.

Monmouth carried that lead into the top of the ninth. The Hawks got the first two outs before the Aggies used a bases loaded walk to tie the game. The Aggies scored three on a single from Reggie Tuggle and a Hawks error and took a 10-7 lead.Â

Back-to-back RBI singles from Hunt and
Simmi Whitehill pulled the Hawks to within one, 10-9 in the bottom of the ninth. However, the Aggies were able to get the final out to secure the victory.

Notes
- Chris Walsh stole a career-high four bases in the contest. It is the most steals by a Hawk since Chris Andrews had four against Georgetown last year.
- The four steals gives Walsh 26 steals on the season. It's the most single-season steals by a Hawk in the last 10 years.
- Walsh was hit by a pitch three times in the game and now leads the CAA after being hit a by pitch 21 times this season.
- Walsh scored three times in the game. The Hawks move to 9-3 when Walsh scores multiple runs in a game.
- RJ Mustaro hit his fifth home run of the season. He is the sixth different player to hit at least five home runs this year.
- Mustaro drove in three runs and now has seven RBIs in his last three games combined.
- Wyatt Hunt had a pair of base knocks and leads the Hawks with 22 multi-hit games this season.
- Nick Lovarco ran his reached base safely streak to 13 straight games.
- Jake Danyluk surrendered the base hit that allowed the go-ahead runs to score.
