Miller Hits Walk Off in 7-6 Win over Penn

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ. -Monmouth rallied for a dramatic 7–6 walk-off win over Penn on Wednesday afternoon at MU Softball Park.

Sammy Miller delivered the game-winning moment in the bottom of the seventh inning, lining a two-out single to score pinch runner Gianna Scotti from third. Scotti had entered to run for Carah Sumpter, who worked a key walk to set the stage.

Penn came out strong, taking a 2–0 lead in the first inning with a solo home run followed by a triple and a double. The Quakers added another run in the third to extend their advantage to 3–0.

Monmouth broke through in the fourth when Sumpter launched a solo home run. Penn answered in the fifth to make it 4–1, but the Hawks responded with two runs in the bottom half, capitalizing on an error and a sacrifice fly from Mackenzie Bloss to cut the deficit to one.

Penn pushed its lead to 6–3 with two RBI singles, but Monmouth refused to back down. In the sixth inning, Bloss crushed a three-run home run to even the score at 6–6, setting up Miller's heroics in the seventh.
