Monmouth Tops Towson 5–3 Behind Balanced Offense

TOWSON, MD. — Monmouth opened its series against Towson with a 5–3 win on Friday at Tiger Softball Stadium.

The Hawks struck early, as Mackenzie Bloss drove in the game's first run with an RBI double in the first inning, scoring Dominique Lopez

Monmouth added to its lead in the fourth when Kaitlynn Place tripled home Carah Sumpter, and Gianna Stern followed with a sacrifice fly. Another sac fly from Ella Stevinson in the fifth pushed the advantage further.

In the circle, Alissa Eimont delivered a strong performance, holding Towson scoreless through five innings and escaping a jam in the fifth.

Liv Smith gave Monmouth an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI single, making it 5–0. 

Towson responded in the bottom half with a two-run triple, then added another run in the seventh to cut the deficit to two.

However, Monmouth's defense held firm to close out the 5–3 victory.

  • The Hawks won their second straight CAA game to improve to 6-10 overall in conference action
  • Monmouth's five RBIs all came from five different Hawks on Friday

  • Mackenzie Bloss and Ella Stevinson each tallied a double, sharing the team lead with 11 on the season.

  • Dominique Lopez ran in a team-high two runs on Friday for Monmouth
