Monmouth Swept by Princeton in Wednesday Doubleheader

PRINCETON, NJ Monmouth softball dropped a pair of games to Princeton on Wednesday at Princeton Softball Stadium, falling 8–0 in game one and 6–0 in game two.

GAME ONE: Princeton 8, Monmouth 0

Monmouth suffered an 8–0 loss in Game 1, ending the contest early via the five-inning run rule. Princeton wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the bottom of the first inning.

After a scoreless second inning, the Tigers extended their lead in the third with a two-run home run to make it 3–0. Princeton added another run in the fourth inning, continuing to build momentum.

The Tigers sealed the victory in dominant fashion in the fifth inning, erupting for four runs to secure the run-rule win.

GAME TWO: Princeton, 6, Monmouth 0

Monmouth fell 6–0 to Princeton in game two. Despite the Hawks finding a bit more offensive rhythm, they were unable to capitalize.

After two scoreless innings, Princeton broke through in the bottom of the third with help from a dropped fly ball followed by an RBI single.

The Hawks held the Tigers scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings, but Princeton extended its lead in the sixth. A sacrifice fly, a two-run triple, and an RBI double accounted for four more runs, sealing the 6–0 result.
