Hawks Earn Series Sweep With 12-4 Win at Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The Monmouth University baseball team used a big early offensive outburst and a strong bullpen effort to defeat Towson University, 12–4, on Sunday afternoon at Schuerholz Park. The win secured a three-game sweep for the Hawks and improved Monmouth to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in CAA play.

Monmouth wasted little time jumping in front, plating four runs in the top of the first inning. After Wyatt Hunt singled and RJ Mustaro walked to put two runners aboard, Chris Walsh delivered an RBI single to bring home the game's first run. The Hawks continued to apply pressure in the inning and took advantage of traffic on the bases to build a quick 4–0 lead.

The Hawks broke it open in the third, scoring five runs to take a 9-0 lead, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Aidan Bretschneider. Towson responded in the bottom of the frame with a three-spot of its own to make it 9-3.

Monmouth continued to add insurance runs late, scoring once in each of the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to stretch the advantage to eight runs.

Chris Walsh led the Hawks offensively with three hits and three runs scored, while Aidan Bretschneider delivered a five-RBI performance. RJ Mustaro added two hits and two runs scored as Monmouth finished with 11 hits in the contest.

On the mound, Brendan Kenneally earned the win in relief after tossing four innings and allowing two runs while striking out two. He was part of a four-pitcher effort that limited Towson to four runs on eight hits. Tommy Kent started the game and struck out four over two innings, while Stefan Swee and Caden Carlin combined to close out the final three frames.

Towson was paced offensively by Brian Heckelman, who recorded three hits and drove in a run, while Frank Adamski Jr. added two hits and an RBI for the Tigers.

The Hawks finished the weekend with a sweep of the series.
