TOWSON, Md. – The Monmouth University baseball team scored the final four runs of the game to back a trio of strong pitching performances and claimed a 4-1 win over Towson University on Saturday afternoon.

Towson struck first in the contest as the Tigers reached Monmouth starter
Alec Couture for a one-out run in the second.

The Hawks responded in the top of the third inning with a pair and took back the lead.
Colin Richter ripped a one-out triple to center and came in to score as
Sam Saucke reached on a fielders choice. Saucke then scored on an attempted double steal.Â

Couture settled in and limited the Tigers to just one base runner over the next three innings. That allowed the Hawks to maintain their 2-1 advantage.Â

Monmouth added to the lead in the top of the seventh. Richter reached on a two-out walk and came around to score on Saucke's home run to left center.

David Horvath pitched the final four innings for the Hawks and limited Towson to just one hit and two walks to close out the 4-1 victory.

- The Hawks have their first three-game win streak since Apr. 13-18 of last year.Â
- Monmouth goes to 2-0 in CAA play for the second time under head coach Dean Ehehalt (2024 season).
- Colin Richter scored twice for the Hawks and has now scored at least one run in seven straight contests and nine of 11 games this season.
- Sam Saucke finished with two runs scored and three RBIs for the Hawks. It was the freshman's second straight game with multiple runs scored and fifth of the season. It was his third game of the year with multiple RBIs.
- Wyatt Hunt recorded his fourth multi-hit game of the season.Â
- RJ Mustaro has hit in four straight games for the Hawks.
- Alec Couture picked up his first win of the season after going five and putting up five strikeouts. It was his first win since Apr. 27, 2024 (Couture missed all of the 2025 season).
- David Horvath pitched a scoreless ninth and earned the first save of his career.
