Monmouth Downs Towson 7-4, Picks Up Fourth Straight Win

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - Monmouth softball extended its winning streak to four games with a 7–4 victory over the Towson Tigers Friday afternoon in the opening game of the series.

Mackenzie Bloss picked up right where she left off, driving in the first run of the day for the Hawks with a single that brought home Dominique Lopez, who had reached base with a hit of
her own.

Clare Picone added to the lead in the first inning, recording an RBI on a groundout to score Ella Stevinson and make it 2–0.

Towson answered in the top of the third inning, cutting the deficit to 2–1 with an RBI single to right field.

Stevinson responded in the bottom of the fourth, launching a two-run home run — her first of the season — to extend Monmouth's lead to 4–1.

The Tigers added another run in the fifth inning, but the Hawks kept their offense rolling. Monmouth broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs to take a commanding 7–2 lead.
