PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers University baseball team secured a 13-3 win over the Monmouth University baseball team on Tuesday afternoon.

The Scarlet Knights struck first in this one, using home runs in the first and second innings to open up a 5-0 lead.Â

The Hawks got on the board in the top of the third.
Colin Richter reached on an error and came around to score on
Wyatt Hunt's base knock. After a walk to
Robert Kelly and a balk put runners on second and third,
Chris Walsh delivered a base hit. An error on the play allowed both runners to score and made it a 5-3 game.

Rutgers got one back in the bottom of the third as a sac fly made it a 6-3 game.

Jake Danyluk came out of the pen and put up zeros for the Hawks in the fourth and fifth innings.

Rutgers scored two in the sixth and five in the seventh and secured the 13-3 victory.Â

- Simmi Whitehill extended his reached base safely streak to 17 straight games with a infield single in the third inning.
- Wyatt Hunt's two-hit day tied him for the team-lead with seven multi-hit contests this season.
- Colin Richter scored the Hawks' first run of the game and has now scored at least one run in 11 of 17 games.
