PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers University baseball team secured a 13-3 win over the Monmouth University baseball team on Tuesday afternoon.

The Scarlet Knights struck first in this one, using home runs in the first and second innings to open up a 5-0 lead.

The Hawks got on the board in the top of the third. Colin Richter reached on an error and came around to score on Wyatt Hunt's base knock. After a walk to Robert Kelly and a balk put runners on second and third, Chris Walsh delivered a base hit. An error on the play allowed both runners to score and made it a 5-3 game.

Rutgers got one back in the bottom of the third as a sac fly made it a 6-3 game.
