UNION, NJ . Monmouth softball suffered a 9–1 loss to Hofstra Saturday afternoon at Cougar Softball Field in the second game of a three-game series.

There were two scoreless innings before Hofstra opened the scoring in the third inning with two runs. The Pride's first run of the day came on a home run. Hofstra doubled its lead on a single to left field.

Hofstra extended its lead to 3–0 in the top of the fourth inning on a wild pitch. The Pride then pushed the advantage to 5–0 on another home run, their second of the day.

Monmouth's lone run came in the bottom of the fifth inning when Kylee McLain singled to left-center field, bringing home Tessa Thompson.

Hofstra added four runs in the top of the seventh inning to cap off the 9–1 victory.

• Kylee McLain and Olivia Smith tallied a team-high of two hits apiece 
• McLain recorded the lone RBI on Saturday
