DELAND, FL. – The Monmouth University baseball team scored six runs in the sixth inning but could not complete the comeback as the Stetson University baseball team claimed a 14-8 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Stetson scored five over the first two innings and grabbed the early advantage.Â

The Hatters put five more on the board in the fourth and led 10-0.

Monmouth broke through in the fifth inning as
Colin Richter ripped a two-out triple to left center that scored
Jake Howlett.
Sam Saucke followed with an RBI single that got the Hawks their second run.Â

Stetson scored one in the bottom of the fifth and made it an 11-2 game.

A two-out rally in the top of the sixth was sparked by a home run from
RJ Mustaro. After Richter drew a bases loaded walk to force in a run, Saucke cleared the bases with his triple to right center. The inning was capped by an RBI single from
Wyatt Hunt. The Hawks sent 10 men to the plate and scored six times, which made it an 11-8 game.

Stetson scored three more times over the final three innings and claimed the 14-8 victory.

- RJ Mustaro hit his first home run as a Hawk.
- Mustaro had a season-high three hits in the contest and all of them went for extra bases (two doubles, one home run).
- Sam Saucke had four RBIs out of the lead-off spot. It's his second four RBI game of the season.Â
- Saucke has multiple hits in three of the first six games.
- Simmi Whitehill extended his hit streak to six straight games.
- Brendan Buecker has reached base safely in all six games after contributing two hits.
- David Horvath tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen and struck out a season-high two batters.Â
