BALTIMORE, Md. – A pair of late rallies lifted UMBC over the Monmouth University baseball team in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday.

UMBC scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to secure a 4-3 comeback win in game-one. In game-two, the Hawks led after four, but the Retrievers scored five times in the eighth to secure another comeback victory, that time 10-9.

Monmouth added to its lead in the third as back-to-back RBI doubles from
Chris Walsh and
Wyatt Hunt, gave the Hawks a 3-0 advantage.

UMBC got back-to-back solo home runs in the fourth to make a 3-2 game.Â

The Retrievers scored twice in the bottom of the seventh with one out and secured the 4-3 win.

Game Two Recap:Â A four run second inning got the Hawks off to a hot start in game-two. Hunt had an RBI double for the Hawks in the frame.Â

The Hawks made it a 5-0 game with a run in the third.Â

Monmouth put four more runs on the board in the top of the fourth and made it a 9-0 game.
Nick Lovarco drove in two with a double while
Simmi Whitehill added an RBI single.

The Hawks had a chance to add on in the top of the eighth but UMBC got a strikeout to leave the bases loaded.

UMBC scored the final 10 runs of the game, including five in the bottom of the eighth and claimed the 10-9 win.

Ryan Mealy started game-one for the Hawks and struck out three. He has at least three strikeouts in each of his first three starts this season.Â

Colin Richter had three steals in game-one. It was the most steals by a Hawk in a single-game since
Harry Padden had three last year against Princeton.
