Colin Richter had a double and scored a run to lead the Monmouth University baseball team in a 5-1 loss to North Dakota State University on Saturday afternoon.

RBI doubles from Diego Trujillo and Tyman Long gave North Dakota State a 4-0 lead after two innings of play.Â

The Bison added a run in the seventh and led 5-0.

Monmouth got one back in the eighth as Richter led off with a double and came around to score on
Wyatt Hunt's groundout.

North Dakota State limited the damage and claimed the 5-1 win.

- Wyatt Hunt picked up his team-leading sixth RBI of the season with his groundout in the eighth inning.
- Hunt has at least one RBI in four of the first five games.
- Simmi Whitehill extended his hit streak to five straight games with a single.
- Robert Kelly reached base twice via a pair of walks.
- Brendan Buecker has reached base safely in all five games this season after drawing a walk.
- Alec Couture made his first start on the mound since May 17, 2024 after missing all of last year and coming out of the pen in his first appearance this year.Â
- Couture's eight strikeouts were the most by a Monmouth pitcher since Ryan Mealy had 10 against N.C. A&T last year.
