RICHMOND, Va. – After hitting .500 over opening weekend, Monmouth University baseball freshman
Sam Saucke was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Baseball Rookie of the Week by league officials.

Saucke hit .500 in the opening weekend of the 2026 season with three extra base hits, a team-best four RBIs, a team-best four runs scored, and three walks. He had an OPS of 1.517 and a slugging percentage of .917.

Saucke started his week by going 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored and a stolen base. He got a hit in each of his first three collegiate at-bats. Saucke also scored the game-winning run for the Hawks as he doubled to lead off the ninth and scored on
Simmi Whitehill's base hit.Â

In game-two of Saturday's doubleheader, Saucke went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, three walks and his first career home run. Saucke hit the second pitch he saw in that game over the fence in left for his first career home run. He also drew a bases loaded walk in the first inning to force in a run.

Saucke and the Hawks are back in action on Friday, Feb. 20 when they take on Virginia at Stetson at 12 p.m.
