TOWSON, Md.Monmouth women's basketball held off a late push to secure a gritty 56–53 road win over Towson Friday night at SECU Arena, improving to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in CAA play.

The Hawks leaned on a dominant interior performance from Divine Dibula, who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, while GiGi Gamble added 22 points to lead all scorers as Monmouth.

Monmouth set the tone early, holding Towson without a field goal in the opening quarter. The Hawks used an 11-0 run late in the first to open up a nine-point lead, taking a 15-8 advantage after 10 minutes behind strong defense and paint scoring.

Towson clawed back in the second quarter, outscoring Monmouth 16-13 to cut the deficit to four at the break, but the Hawks remained in control thanks to Dibula's work inside and timely baskets from Gamble.

The third quarter featured back-and-forth action with 10 lead changes overall in the game. Towson briefly took the lead before Monmouth responded, finishing the period ahead 43-40. Gamble scored eight points in the quarter, helping the Hawks weather the Tigers' momentum.

In the final 10 minutes, Monmouth's defense tightened when it mattered most. The Hawks limited Towson to just 10 points in the fourth quarter and forced tough shots down the stretch. Gamble sealed the win at the free-throw line as Monmouth closed out the 56-53 victory.

Monmouth shot 36.2 percent from the field and dominated the paint with a 38-22 scoring edge inside. Towson was held to 25.4 percent shooting for the game.

The Hawks return to action Sunday as CAA play continues, looking to keep their momentum rolling on the road.
