Derek Robertson Claims CAA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

September 08, 2025

RICHMOND, Va. – Monmouth University Football quarterback Derek Robertson has been named the CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week after a record-setting performance in the Hawks' 49-28 victory at Fordham on Saturday night, the conference announced Monday morning.

The graduate signal-caller accounted for a program-best seven total touchdowns, breaking the school's single-game records for both passing touchdowns (six) and total scores. Robertson completed 30-of-44 passes for 364 yards while adding his first career rushing touchdown on a one-yard keeper in the fourth quarter. His effort also gave him his 10th career 300-yard passing game, the most in Monmouth history, and his six touchdown passes are the most by any FCS player this season.

Robertson led a Monmouth offense that piled up 469 total yards and scored touchdowns on four consecutive first-half possessions. He connected early and often with wide receiver Josh Derry, who tied the school record with four touchdown receptions while posting a career-high 10 catches for 144 yards. Robertson connected with TJ Speight for a pair of touchdowns, as well, as Monmouth moved to 2-0 for the first time since 2021 and opened with consecutive road victories for the first time since 2016.

Robertson and the Hawks travel to Charlotte looking for their second FBS win in as many tries on Saturday, September 13. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ at 6 p.m.
