WILMINGTON, NC – UNCW took both games of a doubleheader against the Monmouth University baseball team in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Saturday.

UNCW used a big sixth and seventh inning to claim a 9-4 win in game one. The Seahawks got three RBIs from Bryan Arendt in game two en route to an 11-1 win in eight innings.

Game One Recap:
UNCW used a pair of solo home runs in the first inning to take an early lead in game one.Â

The Hawks tied things up at 2-2 in the third.

UNCW answered with three in the bottom of the sixth and took a 5-2 lead.Â

Monmouth got one back in the top of the seventh as
Wyatt Hunt lifted a home run to right field.Â

UNCW sent eight men to the plate and scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh and took a 9-3 lead.Â

Bant had an RBI single in the top of the eighth and made it a 9-4 game but that was all UNCW would allow as the Seahawks closed out the win.

The Seahawks scored two in the bottom of the first for the early advantage.Â

Monmouth answered with a run in the top of the second as Hunt's groundout scored
Chris Andrews and made it a 2-1 game.Â

UNCW put up three runs in the fourth and increased its advantage to 5-1.Â

The Seahawks tacked on six more runs over the next four innings and claimed the 11-1 win.

- The Hawks fell to 2-6 all-time against UNCW with the doubleheader sweep by the Seahawks.Â
- Monmouth was playing its fifth doubleheader of the season. The Hawks are 4-6 in doubleheaders this season.Â
